This week we will be working on the great standard There is No Greater Love. All of the greats have studied this tune. It uses both major and minor ii-V progressions. It also uses a dominant 7 (#11) chord in the third measure. This chord is based off of the 4th mode of the melodic minor scale. Start to add the melodic minor scales to your daily practice routine.
When starting to work on this tune, step one is LEARN THE MELODY!!! Listen to a few of the versions that I have included on the playlist. Find a version that you dig and play a long with it. Listen to how they phrase the melody and try to imitate what they are doing.
Challenge: Find a version of this song that is not included on the playlist and share it with your classmates.
