For this weeks assignment, we are going to be sharing and discussing piano arrangements of popular tunes. Points are awarded by sharing a video and commenting on other students videos. Every student must share at least one youtube video and comment on at least 2 other videos in order to receive full credit.
Due Date: Friday April 17th
Due to Google Classroom
Instructions: (All postings and comments done in Google Classroom):
1. Post a youtube video of a song you really enjoy rearranged for and played on piano. You may need to search for one.
*What does "piano arrangement" mean?
-The song should not have been intended for piano. It should have been originally recorded by a band or singer and then remade for just piano. There should be no singing or other instruments, it should be done completely on piano.
2. Listen to the youtube videos that other students posted.
3. Pick two other videos to comment on.
*Comment topic suggestions:
-What you like or dislike about the piano arrangement of the song.
-How has the song been changed from the original to the piano arrangement?
-Does the piano arrangement enhance or take away from the original song. How so?
You can comment on as many videos as you want.
You can also have debates with other students, but keep it school appropriate.
It may help to post the original song as a reference as well. Make sure it is school appropriate.
The more you engage, the better the discussion will be.
To Get You Started:
I have posted a video played by Joachim Horsley who rearranged Beethoven's 7th symphony (originally for orchestra) and changed it to a Cuban influenced song. All of the sounds that are made come from the piano.
